Missions & Outreach

Grace Point wants to be faithful to reach out to those that don't yet know Christ (Matthew 28:18-20)
as well as those less fortunate than ourselves (Psalm 82:3).
With this goal in mind, we participate in the following missions and local outreach opportunities. If you are interested in learning more about these ministries, please contact the Grace Point Missions and Outreach team.  A Quarterly Schedule for 2013 can be found at the link below.

"Rise in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderlyand revere your God, I am the Lord". Lev 19:2

As an outreach to the senior local community, Grace Points' ministry "Sowing Good", provided raised garden beds so that the Emeritus (assisted living facility for the elderly in Carmel Valley) residents can enjoy God's creative work in herb, ornamental and vegetable gardening. In addition to more volunteers that can assist with ongoing garden maintenance, we are also looking for volunteers to help with the following activities: Lead bridge (or any other card games), lead knitting/crocheting/tatting classes, Bible Study/fellowship, or group singing. Child Sponsorship Programs

1 Mosaic Vision  Uganda

This ministry supports children who have lost both parents to AIDS. Mosaic works with local churches to restore the childhoods of orphans living in child- headed homes. This is done by connecting widows  from the local church with child-headed households. First of all the children have the opportunity to learn about the love and saving grace of Jesus Christ. They receive clothes, food, attend school, and receive medical care. These needs are provided by the local community, this generates employment. For $45 a month you can sponsor a child or for $25 you can provide a new shirt, pants, & shoes.  Every 2nd Sunday of the month you can visit the Mosaic table in the Courtyard for more info.  Contact: Kristen Caverly, kcaverly@san.rr.com

Barefoot Doctors Thailand

"So they set out and went from village to village, proclaiming the good news and healing people everywhere." Luke 9:6
Barefoot Doctors is a part of Frontier Laborers for Christ, an organization that preaches & practices the gospel in Thailand & Myanmar/former Burma.
This program trains villagers in basic medical treatment techniques. They are also instructed how to share the gospel. The curriculum duration is 3 consecutive years for 6 weeks at a time. The trainees are hand-selected by their local church for this honor and very necessary training. After finishing the program, they set "out in the field" in order to heal the sick and bring hope and encouragement. Rick Astone, a GPC member, is the dean of the Barefoot Doctors program. We are currently supporting Myit Tun, a Barefoot Doctor who graduated recently. You can read more about the Barefoot Doctors on http://barefootschool.blogspot.com.

Grace Point Church Members active in:

His Hands For Haiti (HH4H)

This Maine based ministry started in 2003, sponsoring 57 students and continues to expand, currently supporting 1400. After a devastating earthquake in Haiti in 2010, a plot of land was purchased with the intent of supporting a number of small orphanage homes. The orphans are supported by providing them with housing and education. These efforts are channeled through L'Eglise Baptiste de Terrier Rouge (the Baptist Church of Terrier Rouge). GPC members have been involved with this ministry for five years. GPC held a HH4H benefit concert in 2010. The donations provided for building two current orphanage homes, providing for up to 20 orphans.
